Sensory and/or motor regulation can impact social relations, as children may be unaware of personal space (e.g. bumping into objects or people, sitting too close), miss or misperceive social cues or intent (e.g. meaning in a face, joking, taking things too personally), or withdraw or become over-stimulated in social settings (e.g. isolate, rambunctious, when to stop). Such behaviors can result in being rejected, teased, or stigmatized by peers.
